In Commission

Zeena Commission

A few days ago a customer asked, for a digital commission, to draw Zeena a long-haired brown chihuahua dog.

The request was to depict Zeena with the help of her photos in a similar position to some references images.

Being difficult to see some details from the photos of Zeena the customer mademe  a description and sent me some ref  images:

“She is very impertinent, her tail, which is hard to see in the pictures I sent you, has a lot of long hair, so when she is active, you can see it very well.

Like the tail of this dog

This instead is a pose that I would like, but I will leave you pictorial freedom. ”

After receiving all the necessary information and photos and that the request process is over, I started working on the representation.

Looking at the pictures of Zeena reference and taking a cue from the desired pose I began to draw a sketch, being Zeena an energetic dog and a bit impertinent to depict her in a stationary pose as the photo reference I decided to give her a more animated and expressive pose.

After receiving the ok for the pose I’ve started working with color and fur.

For the colors I took some samples from the photos and then I’ve created the other ones for the lights and the shadows creating a palette of colors.

I’ve sent an image of the work in progress to show how it was proceeding.

The customer told me that even if in the samples photos did not show, the hair on the chest was lighter.

I arranged the color and went ahead with the work.

The client was not sure whether or not to have a background so I made some grass under Zeena and sent the work.

After requesting small sets and adding the background I sent the final work.
